Dr. Ali Hazrati has joined the Division of General Surgery at Scarborough hospital in 2011. He specializes in Bariatric Surgery and the treatment of obesity. His main focus of his clinical practice is weight loss and malignant and benign diseases of GI tract.
Dr. Hazrati completed his General Surgery Residency at McGill University after completing a MSc in Experimental Surgery. He then completed a Fellowship in Advanced Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Stanford University in California. He is a member of multiple national and international associations including the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity (IFSO).
His research interests center on clinical outcomes, revision, quality improvement, and patient safety projects in bariatric surgery. They include outcome assessment and risk reduction after bariatric surgery.
