Mr. Richard Welbourn is part of a 3 consultant unit doing bariatric surgery in Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton UK. He is Past-President of the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society 2013-15. In 2014 he led multi collegiate commissioning guidance for the Royal College of Surgeons for bariatric multidisciplinary clinics and was a member of the 2014-16 NICE Guidance and Quality Standards Advisory Committees for obesity and bariatric surgery for the National Health Service. He is Past-Chair of the UK National Bariatric Surgery Registry committee and is a member of the IFSO Global Registry Committee. He is lead surgeon for the NIHR-funded By-Band-Sleeve multicentre RCT and is Hon Reader in Bariatric Surgery, University of Bristol. His H-index is 31. He was privileged to be elected by his peers to be World Congress President for IFSO London 2017.
