Dr. CHIH-KUN HUANG, MD

Dr. Chih-Kun Huang is the Superintendent of the Body Science & Metabolic Disorders International (B.M.I) Medical Center at China University Hospital, Taichung, Taiwan. He graduated from Kaohsiung Medical University, Taiwan in 1995 and has 12 years of bariatric surgery experience, having done over 4000 cases, including Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, LDJB-SG, LPJB-SG, gastric banded plication, mini sleeve gastrectomy, gastric plication, and gastric band. He performed the first case of single incision trans-umbilical laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass in 2008 and the first case of laparoscopic adjustable gastric banded plication in 2009. He developed a novel metabolic surgery “Loop duodenojejunostomy bypass with sleeve gastrectomy” in 2011. In addition to his experience, Dr. Huang is also very involved in research and education, having published over 70 research articles, 6 books, and numerous book chapters on bariatric surgery. He has trained more than 60 international fellows. He was the first to create an International Center of Excellence (ICE) for Bariatric Surgery in the Asia-Pacific region and is also the founding chairman of the International Excellence Federation for Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery (IEF), a non-profit medical organization that provides a network for centers to share, contribute and exchange their opinions, data and results. IEF currently has over 60 active members around the globe.
