Professor MIGUEL F. HERRERA MD, PhD

Education

Dr Miguel F. Herrera graduated from the Universidad Veracruzana in Mexico and then completed a 4-year residency program in Internal Medicine followed by a 4-year residency program in General Surgery which included a year as Chief Resident at the Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición Salvador Zubirán (INCMNSZ) in Mexico City, Mexico. He also received the PhD degree from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in 2001. He is board certified in General Surgery and Bariatric Surgery

Current positions

Dr Herrera is currently Staff Surgeon at the INCMNSZ, Professor of Endocrine and Bariatric Surgery at the UNAM. His institutional work includes teaching residents in General Surgery as well as fellows in Endocrine and Bariatric Surgery. In addition to teaching, he has collaborations with other departments for clinical research in the same fields

Dr Herrera is member of 6 International Associations including the: International Association of Endocrine Surgeons, International Surgical Society, American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery, International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity & Metabolic Disorders and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists
