PROFESSOR JEFFREY S. BROOKS MD
Dr Jeffrey S. Brooks received his undergraduate degree from New York University, USA (Cum Laude), his medical training at the State University of New York (Cum Laude), and internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in New York. He continued his fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado and concluded at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. After achieving board certification in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Hepatology he worked in private medical practice while attending as medical faculty at the Columbia University affiliated New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City teaching endoscopy to gastroenterology fellows. In 2005 he wrote patents for the Spatz Adjustable Balloon System and founded Spatz FGIA, Inc. Dr Brooks currently holds 5 international patents with several more under review. He has published multiple peer reviewed publications on intragastric balloons and has presented on this topic at international conferences in the United States, Asia, Europe, the Far East and South America. Dr Brooks has lectured on intragastric balloons internationally and has trained hundreds of doctors in the Spatz procedures. The concept of adjustable intragastric balloons to help improve the outcomes of intragastric balloon therapy has been credited to Dr Brooks. He has the single largest worldwide experience having performed over 3,000 Spatz3 Balloon procedures, and having proctored hundreds of doctors through many hundreds of procedures. He is married with four daughters.
